The Westford Foundation is a registered charity, comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers who fund raise and accept donations in memory of loved ones or in honour of special people in our lives so the Residents of the Westford Nursing Home can enjoy additional enhancements to their Home and their quality of life.
Major projects undertaken by the Foundation over the past few years have been the addition to the Dining Room and the development of the Serenity Garden.
The expanded dining area created a beautiful larger, and brighter dining space where the residents can all come together to enjoy their meals and other activities. The development of the fully accessible Serenity Garden in the summer of 2019 has brought immeasurable moments of joy to both the Residents, their families and members of the community. It provides a safe, secure place for the Residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors, the scents and sounds of nature and interactive activities with the raised gardens. The Activity Director shared,” The Serenity Garden is an inspiring place. It has been used for visitation during the Pandemic, for moments of solitude, therapy and reflection, but also for social gatherings, games and fun. It is a favourite "room" for many of our Residents who seek the independence offered by this safe space in a peaceful, inviting garden setting. Many are looking forward to warm, sunny days spent outdoors whether sitting enjoying the sights and sounds or plucking a few weeds while walking the pathways.
”We are very pleased to announce that through many very generous donations and the ongoing work of the Foundation, we will be proceeding with Phase II of the Serenity Garden. Phase II will almost double the size of garden space adding more pathways and planting areas for the enjoyment of the Residents and community members.
